Image "ONE"

Back to the beginning.... I have posted this a few times. There is nothing scandalous, nothing unusual, nothing that any other artist might do... look at the works of Banksy and this, too.  And take a second look at what all the other conscious, "scribblers on the walls" artists are doing... though, most on the sides of buildings.... It has been said throughout the ages that you can learn more about a people and the state of their country not by the words printed, published and broadcast to the outside world by their leaders and upper class, but by what is splashed on the back walls and down dark alleys of buildings. The graffiti artist tells the truth.

I started this blog because of the lies The Bush Administration promulgated for the Iraq War, for peeping into people's lives, for torturing captives, for allowing the military to go rogue, for encouraging the worst in the republican party to dominate, the acts of violence on the civilians and women and children (which are hidden from view... until Wikileaks) and for letting the few Arabs do their dirty deeds on September 11, 2001 (Thank you, Condeleeza Rice for telling us truth, though after the fact.). These images are based on the works of art from the past - many are the treasures of this world because they touch the deepest fiber of our being.

These images emerge in my mind from the stories posted in the international news - not the news from the US (we don't report the truth about ourselves). The great artists saw what I have seen, and I have only merged today with what happened in the past. I am so sorry that we keep doing the same horrors over and over. It is too bad that we pretend that today is better, and worse, I suspect it is a product of biology and that most emanates from the 'y' chromosome.

One day, the Consecration of the Emperor Napoleon I and Coronation of the Empress Josephine in the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris, by one of my favorite painters, Jacques-Louis David, popped into my mind as I watched my country beat the drum for war in Iraq. The "Operation Enduring Freedom" smelled bad. Then I had to re-paint David's Coronation. It took weeks to do...

Napoleon commissioned David to paint a 10x6 meters demonstration of Napoleon's greatness and power to the world. The painting was completed in 1807. The actual Coronation was in December 2, 1804. But Napoleon's last campaign, The Russian Invasion of 1812 ended in disgrace in 1813....And for all the "talk" and bluff about how Napoleon planned things so carefully.... DO look at this chart created as a lesson against war....
